Instrumentoteca

The Toyota Instrument Library is an initiative created by Berta Rojas in 2022, which allowed young classical guitarists of Paraguayan nationality or foreigners residing in Paraguayan territory, between 18 and 30 years of age, to have an instrument of excellent quality on loan for a year, taking into account that the quality of an instrument is vital for the growth of a musician.

For this purpose, the process has been divided into 3 stages:

Pre-selection process:

The project, aimed at young Paraguayan or foreign classical guitarists residing in Paraguayan territory between 18 and 30 years of age, involved sending videos and personal data of the participants to the form hosted on the official website of Berta Rojas. At this stage, Dr. Michael Quantz was in charge of making a pre-selection of 12 participants who then presented themselves at the in-person audition. The video submitted by the applicants consisted of the performance of a work chosen by the applicant, in which he/she demonstrated his/her level of interpretative and technical quality. The video had to be recorded at home, without any editing, and uploaded to Youtube to be shared with the organization.

Selection process:

This phase was held in person at the "Mirai" theater of the Colegio Japonés Paraguayo, on Saturday, October 1, 2022, with the 12 finalists who reached this stage, pre-selected by Dr. Michael Quantz, from which came the beneficiaries of the 8 available guitars. The jury for this process was made up of teachers and leaders of the Paraguayan music scene, who have been part of the teaching staff of the Pu Rory Ensemble (another initiative created by Berta Rojas) in previous years. For this stage, each finalist prepared a free program with a duration of 20 minutes. In advance. The complete program had to be a minimum of 12 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes, and was presented before the jury and an audience of their closest friends and family members.

Awarding of prizes:

Once the presentations were finished, the jury presented the order of qualifications, and in this order, each winner chose their favorite guitar, which would accompany their learning for the term of one year or for the term that the organization considers.
